5 Lessons Learnt From Hostel Life

Hostel life is fun. You make tons of memories and bump into new friends. But there are also certain important life lessons that it teaches us in the long run.

1.     You become super independent –
When you were home, you had that slight tinge of carelessness because you knew your mom would be there to take care of you. But once you start living in a hostel, things start to fall on your shoulders, leaving you more independent. From being a master of your own rules to washing your own clothes, you become a lot more independent that before.

2.     You learn more in those late night coffee or Maggie sessions than you will ever in your life –
Whether you agree or not, every hostel room turns into a ‘gyaan hub’ after midnight where everything from the latest romantic gossip to how the government should run is discussed.

3.     You understand the value of home cooked good food –
This one is a no-surprise! We all know hostel food is just horrible! You long for your home cooked food more than anything else in the world. Moreover, you can never wait enough to go back home to taste your mother’s hand cooked meals.

4.      You realise the power of music in your life –
Be it at 2am in a lonely night or at 11 am during a boring lecture, music never fails to be your best company.

5.     You value money –
Hostel life teaches you how to spend your money wisely through the hard way. You learn to value every penny of money you own and use it efficiently.
